Ice & Stone Installation
Combining the very different mediums of stone and water, we took five days to freeze two dozen basalt columns in varying states of suspension. We then spent 24hrs constructing the 25’ long wall of ice blocks, as a one night installation for the Fremont Arts Councils ‘Winter Solstice Feast’
During the course of the evening, the ice slowly melted, continually changing the look and feel of the piece. The impermanence of this work was an interesting contrast to the longevity that I impart to my regular stonework. Collaboration with seattle artist Peter Toms
